But support can make a world of difference. Friends or family can do the trick for you. If you can establish a buddy system with a friend or a spouse, you'll both get a boost from the mutual support. Sometimes the support will be there waiting for you, arms wide open. Close friends and loved ones who have supported you in the past may be just the ones to help you now.

Or they may not. Many people benefit from networking with others who are trying to lose weight, too. If you're lucky, you may know a friend or coworker who fills the bill.

If not, try your health club—ask around or post a notice. Whether you just want to share recipes or find a workout partner, you are most definitely not alone.
