Do You Need a Vitamin or Mineral Supplement?

If you are living in an area where fresh fruits and vegetables are not readily available you  must rely primarily on processed foods, which are not as rich in essential nutrients, many doctors and dietitians recommend taking a daily vitamin and minerals supplement. They consider it a nutritional insurance policy.

However, all nutrition experts warn against excessive consumption of a particular  vitamin or mineral because you have read in a newspaper or magazine about the health benefits it offers.

These benefits are derived from the minimum daily requirements of the vitamin or minerals, not from taking copious quantities.

Too much of any vitamin or mineral can cause your body to have a chemical imbalance. In fact, an overdose of some vitamins can be dangerous to your health.

Remember, eating a variety of foods and maintaining a desirable weight is the goal.
