All foods have a points value. How many points depend on
the serving size, the number of calories, the amount of fiber grams, and the
amount of fat grams in the food. Upon joining, you are given a book that tells
the point values of some of the more common foods, based on serving size. You
will also received a points finder, which is a pocket sized sliding gadget that
figures out how many points a food has. Armed with the nutritional information
on the packages of most foods, specifically the calories, fat grams, and fiber
grams, the calculator quickly and easily tells you how many points that in that
food. The higher the fat grams, the more points that are in that food. The
higher the fiber grams, the less points.
The ultimate effect is that you learn to eat healthier. The plan shows you that a high fiber, low-fat diet is among the healthiest way to lose weight. Each week, you are given a form to write down everything you eat, and how many points it has. If you know you are going out for a nice dinner, you can use less of your points earlier in the day, so that you can "bank" some of the points for later. The amount of points you should have daily is based on your body weight, and how much you are trying to lose. The individual person decides how he or she wants to use there points. It is also important to the program to have from six to eight glasses of water a day. This will keep you hydrated as well as make you feel fuller longer. There points plan is designed to make you feel more satisfied while losing weight. You can eat the foods you love and still lose weight.
